What are you currently paying?
One thing that became clear as we started speaking with clubs about HypeBox is that many aren’t fully aware of the true costs associated with using international booking platforms - or how much money is quietly slipping away each month. That’s why we want to start by giving you a transparent overview of how these costs typically add up:
• You’ll usually pay a monthly subscription fee just to access their system. This can range anywhere from R791.86 to R5,864.75, with most South African clubs we spoke to falling into the R2,803.95 per month model - excluding VAT.
• In addition, these platforms take a 3.5% commission on all bookings made through their systems. On the tennis side, we’ve seen similar percentage-based deductions on all payments made via their platform.
• What’s more, funds are typically only paid out every 2 to 4 weeks, meaning the platform earns interest on your club’s money during that time.
• Some platforms also charge players additional booking fees, promote premium subscriptions, offer in-app purchases, and run ads within their apps or websites - all of which generate even more revenue for them.
• And because these companies are not registered in South Africa, they don’t contribute to local VAT. That means every rand spent through these platforms - whether for bookings, memberships, or events - is growing a business overseas, not strengthening our own sports economy.

What will you pay on Hypebox?
When you switch to HypeBox, your monthly platform fee is R0.00 and we take 0% of your booking revenue.
That’s right - HypeBox is completely free for clubs. Our goal is to give back to clubs what’s been taken for too long. Instead of charging the club, we apply a flat R5 fee to each player making a booking - simple, transparent, and fair.
We use Payfast as our secure payment provider because it allows us to pay clubs directly, ensuring we never hold onto your funds or earn interest on your money.
With Payfast, your club’s booking fees are paid instantly into your own Payfast account as soon as a booking is made. From there, you can either transfer funds manually or schedule automatic payouts - even daily if you prefer.
The only cost to the club (charged by Payfast, not HypeBox) is a flat R10 fee each time you transfer money from your Payfast account to your bank.
Why free and what is the catch?
You can get a top-tier accounting system like Xero for around R500 per month - so why should booking software cost clubs R60,000 or more per month? That kind of pricing simply isn’t justifiable. Yet, many clubs in South Africa are currently paying those fees to international platforms with no real alternatives. We see that as unfair, and frankly, unsustainable.
These platforms leave clubs with no choice: if you want players to book your courts, you must pay their premium prices. That changes now. With HypeBox, clubs finally have a local, affordable alternative. Especially during challenging periods - like rainy seasons when bookings drop, or in a competitive environment with more and more clubs opening - the last thing your club needs is to be burdened by excessive monthly costs. HypeBox allows clubs to not just survive but thrive.
So, is there a catch? None. Zero. We’ve been in your shoes - as players, former club owners, and committee members. We understand the financial pressures clubs face and how much of a difference a fair, feature-rich solution can make.
Our mission is to see sport flourish again in South Africa - especially tennis, which has seen a decline in participation. HypeBox isn’t just a platform. It’s a movement to reignite the love for sport - by offering powerful tools, no monthly fees, and everything clubs need to grow, engage, and inspire their communities.
