Hypebox announces the immediate removal of a venue from its platform due to a direct breach of the existing agreement. This action follows the venue’s failure to comply with the agreed operational model for bookings and membership payments.
Hypebox provides sports clubs and venues with two flexible options for managing bookings: Pay-per-booking, where members are charged per session or a membership model, where members pay their membership fees via the Hypebox app in exchange for booking access without individual charges
In May 2025, the venue in question chose to adopt the membership model. A key condition of this model is that all membership payments must be processed exclusively through the Hypebox mobile app. This approach ensures transparency, proper access control, and sustainable operation for all parties involved. Additionally, it boosts our Payfast transaction volumes, allowing us to reduce transaction fees for players on our platform.
Despite follow-up communication in early June to confirm billing arrangements, no response was received. Upon reviewing activity on the platform, it became apparent that the venue had chosen to block out booking slots manually for members, bypassing the agreed membership and payment process entirely.
“This is a clear violation of our platform’s terms and of the specific agreement in place,” said a spokesperson for Hypebox. “We created the membership model to help clubs simplify operations, but it cannot be used to circumvent fair use of the system.”
As a result of this breach and in the interest of protecting the integrity of the platform, Hypebox has not only removed the venue but is also discontinuing the membership model entirely. All future bookings on the Hypebox platform will now follow the pay-per-booking model only.
Hypebox remains committed to working with clubs and venues that share its values of fairness, transparency, and collaboration. Clubs affected by this change or with questions regarding the new booking model are encouraged to contact the Hypebox support team.
For disputes related to the venue’s removal, a formal response may be submitted by 5 July 2025 for review.
